Blog 2
For class we had to read three essay's and we get to choose one to write about. The essay I picked is called "My Life as a Dog" by Jonathan Safran Foer. I actually did not like this essay at all. He starts talking about how dogs can be off leash with a permit. I think that dogs should be able to be off leash if they are trained and behave well. The author then starts talking about how are an inconvenience they are in such a big city. To me that's saying wow if you have a busy life you shouldn't have a dog. So then that got me started thinking that many homeless people have dogs. Is that an inconvenience too? As the essay goes on the Author adopts a dog. Why would be get a dog when he talks about how bad they are? Doesn't make sense to me what so ever. After he gets the dog he continues to talk about how awful she is. This actually angers me because if he didn't like dogs in the first place he shouldn't have gotten one. Also after he talks about how bad and horrible she is he says that he loves her. Personally I love dogs no matter what. Yes they are naughty at times, but you can't trash them and be mean to them. They have feelings too. I just feel very confused with this essay due to the fact he actually wants dog to be unleashed in parks, but most of the essay he is bashing his dog. I think this would've been better is he didn't keep switching his opinion about dogs.
